Mister - An Archetype!

I guess we've all been there at some point. Stuck between what we should do which looks great when we think about it and what we are actually doing.

I've been there, more than I ever want to admit. Between being shy and reserved to wanting to achieve my goals, I've been in that position. I could say I'm still there. Maybe?

So many dreams, so many ideas but the needle is not moving forward. Why? What happened? How can we remedy that? Well...

Every story begins with a mirror - but not all of us dare to look.

✦ Being Shy

Some of us spend so much time hiding. But why? Fear is usually the most common answer. Fear of being seen, fear of losing our bubble of privacy, fear of imperfection, fear of wrong timing, even fear of success. Yes I Said It!

I could go on about all types of fear we're facing on a daily basis. Introvert or extrovert, it's definitely applicable to us all.

As an introvert, I'll share more of my perspective and experience. I spent so many years being shy, walking in the shadows, having so many ideas but never dare trying them, always waiting for the perfect time, always managing new ideas and pausing current plans to add new features to them. Being so afraid of public speaking to a point where my voice would shake and crack whenever I heard "Oral Presentation".

I spent years watching people do what I was dreaming of doing and never had the courage to attempt. And the result, I was being a shadow of myself, sitting alone, overthinking, planning over and over until...

I was done being a shadow of myself.

✦ Turning Point

Here I was, 6 months ago, after work, scrolling on social media. So many amazing creators are living my dream life. They dare to do what they are passionate about and I don't.

I couldn't take it anymore. I decided it was time. This time around no backtracking, no returning to my old self, no using shyness as a shield. It's time to start.

I decided to spend some time analyzing and understanding my plan, my strengths, my weaknesses. I had a notebook opened where I would go over everything I already planned years ago and see which ones I'd keep and which ones I'd reject. The ones I'd keep, I had to readjust to fit who I am now, not my past self but who I am. Once it was done, I had to work on myself.

Well, Who am I? What do I like? What does my family think of Me? How can I use all of these to my advantage? A stage of reinvention is what I went through and the result... meet...

MISTER ICON!

✦ What does Mister Mean in My World?

In my world, "Mister" is not a gender or a title and the same goes for "Icon". Mister is an archetype, a world, a shield to show myself, my art, my passion. A world to be me, unapologetically. Icon is the perfect counterbalance.

Mister Icon is the voice I didn't have back then - bold where I was quiet, clear where I was hesitant, present where I used to hide.

I work in duality. I believe everything in life works in perfect balance. Duality exists since the beginning of time to create balance. Let's think about it: Day and Night, Sun and Moon, Sky and Earth, Land and Sea, Silver and Gold. We could go on for days. As a matter of facts, opposites go as far as to exist in grammar: Easy and Hard, Soft and Bold, etc.

This is exactly what Mister represents to me. An archetype of duality, of opposites that can coexist to create something great.

Icon represents a feeling, an emotion, a mood, a vibe. Something that would clearly scream femininity but with restraint. Here is why my name is Mister Icon.
